Heaven’s Rain follows the story of a politician who founded an important piece of victim’s right’s legislation in Oklahoma. The story begins with the Douglass family goes through a harrowing night 30 years in the past. The night will change the lives of the family forever.
The politician wins his fight, but by doing so, he finds that he must come to grips with his past.

The 2010 movie is an example of a true story that was adapted by Hollywood. Several films including 21 and Rain Man have been based on real world events and real world characters. If the story focuses on people who are still living it is not considered to be a historical piece. The true stories often cause some people to roll their eyes. They are, after all, associated with melodramatic pieces that seem to appeal to an audience that is much larger than it should be.

The productions that make it to the silver screen, however, do not rely on this type of plot. They portray more sympathetic depictions of their characters than the TV versions do. They do not overplay the drama. When Hollywood bases things on real people, they try to make these people believable.

When crime happes to us and we are made the victim, people expect us to bounce right back and be the same person we were always were. Being the victim of a crime changes that. We are left looking over our shoulders and trust no one. We expect something to happen. So, how do you overcome this and how do you bounce back? Here are some tips.

The first thing is to tell those people how you feel. The whole story can be found at http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/latest/2011/09/11/crime-victims-being-kept-in-dark-115875-23413331/ Some of them don’t even know what you are going through. While they might be there for you and support you, some of them don’t know what is going on through your mind. You should go at your own pace, but while you do that, you must also try to move on.

Another thing you need to do is seek help. Sometimes you will never get past what happened to you until you talk to someone. Choosing a counselor can help as you are paying them to listen. You will find that you might start thinking that people are sick in hearing about it, but that’s not usually the case. You can find that when you seek someone professional to talk to them, you pay them and won’t feel bad. These are the two biggest things we found help because you will feel the push and you will feel like you are to blame for the things that happened if you don’t speak up.

If you’ve been a victim of a break in it’s natural to feel scared about it happening again. You should first talk to someone about your ordeal to try and get a handle on things but then take some very real actions to help yourself feel safer in your own home again
Get New Locks: It’s amazing what changing the locks on your doors (and windows) can do for your psyche. If you ever had any doubt about your home being sealed tight getting a new lock system should alleviate your worries.
Look Into Security: Have you thought about adt or other security alarm companies in the past? If so, now may be a great time to get invested in a security system that can help protect your home.
Get a Companion: Particularly if you live alone, a companion like a dog can help you feel much safer and also less lonely.

A number of exciting fields in forensics have become available. There are even unexciting fields in forensics. This should not dissuade a person who wants to specialize in forensic accounting from doing so. Some people like working with numbers and if he finds accounting enjoyable, he should feel free to do it.

The field of forensics is not one of the fastest growing fields in the United States. Nursing still maintains that lead, but much like nursing, crimes will always be committed. Victims will always need someone who can prove that the guilty party did it. The field of forensics covers all the broad areas of researches. Forensics does not always imply that a person will deal with corpses. In fact most people in forensics never deal with corpses.

If you want to become a forensic specialist, you need to get a degree in criminal justice A simple two year degree will give a person a start, but a Bachelor’s degree will open far more doors for an individual than an associate’s degree could. If you want to engage in this career, you can find many colleges and universities that offer this degree. Contact them to find out what the requirements for new students are.

Few careers allow an individual the opportunity to fight crime on a regular basis. There are many, many great career opportunities for those interested in the criminal justice field, yet only a few of those careers can truly be labeled as the best crime fighting careers. If you want to become a full-time crime fighter, consider pursuing one of the following criminal justice career opportunities.

1. Police Officer. One of the most popular, and also most dangerous, crime fighting careers is that of a police officer. A police officer’s main duty is to enforce laws. They also work to make their community as safe and healthy as possible. A college degree and on-the-job training are necessary before an individual can become a police officer.

2. DEA Agent. A DEA (drug enforcement administration) agent helps fight or put an end to illegal drug activity. A bachelor’s degree in a criminal justice or related field is often necessary to become a professional DEA agent.

3. Security Guard. If you’ve ever wanted to protect property, assets or people, you may want to consider becoming a security guard. A special license and extensive on-the-job training is usually required to become a professional security guard.

The days of criminals waiting to be tracked down by police officers may be going by the wayside, with new crime fighting software being used by Scrantron’s Police Department. Officers have noted that this software allows for use of an interactive map, updated around 12:30 a.m. daily, alerting police and residents where potential crimes have occurred. This tool can be an excellent resource to protect residents, as well as deter crime.

While some criminals may be drug addicts that lack the ability to think straight, many are extremely intelligent and realize they have the police out numbered. They are wrong now, considering the map of potential crimes will be released to the general public so they have several eyes watching the area. If a whole neighborhood is on the lookout for a specific person in a specific area, then this is like several security cameras without any blind spots. Even if the criminal is never caught, then at least they will know several people are now watching them and they probably will not return to the scene. The bottom line is almost everything, except for a life can be compensated for. In conclusion, whether criminals are caught, or simply never return, as long as no lives are taken then it is effective.

The answer is yes, and no. There is crime in Detroit, just like any other major city. In fact, whether people realize it or not, crime is in every urban, suburban and rural area, especially in a trying economy. So, yes; there is crime in Detroit. The real question is how bad it is compared to other large cities.

For years, decades even, Detroit has had to bear the brunt of many jokes. The city has stood by while its reputation has been marred by reports of it being the Murder Capital of the World. The local and national media always seems to interview a frightened suburbanite on All Hallows Eve, who vehemently insists he would never travel into the city, as if even the mere suggestion is blasphemy.

The truth is Detroit does not even rank in the top 10 of crime-troubled cities. Surprised? The F.B.I. publishes a list of the top cities for violent crimes each year and Detroit is no longer on that list. The media likes to jump on any minor incident and blow it out of proportion to sell their evening news to the viewers. In fact, residents know that if you are aware of your surroundings, use basic common sense and don’t explore dark alleys in the middle of the night, Detroit is perfectly safe.

If you want to usher in some new safety habits in concert with the onset of the New Year you might appreciate the following list of items that are easy to incorporate into your home safety plan.

Never answer your door based simply on the fact that someone is knocking or ringing the bell. You can always know who is on the other side before opening it by installing (or having installed) a wide-angle peephole. If you can’t see who is standing outside or do not like what you see, do not answer the door.

Never open your door to a service or package delivery service unless you are expecting such a delivery and know about it in advance. Even if you see someone through your peephole that is holding flowers or a package, ask them to leave it and do not open your door to collect it until you are certain they have left or someone else is with you when you open the door.

Post a “no soliciting” sign if you do not want anyone to knock on your door or ring your bell. Not only will this reduce legitimate solicitors from bothering you, but it will also alert anyone “casing” your home that you are more aware than most as to what is happening at your front door.

If you don’t want to answer the door when someone knocks or rings the bell but also don’t want someone to think you’re not at home, merely call out “we do not answer the door for strangers.” If they say it’s an emergency and just need to use the phone, offer to make the call for them through the closed door do not open it.

Keep your security system armed even when you are at home and consider having panic buttons installed throughout the home in various locations so they can be used should you need to hide from an intruder.

While the above may seem pretty “common sense” to a lot of readers, there are thousands of individuals each year who inadvertently open their doors to strangers even though they believe they have practiced safety and security. It never hurts to review basics. It’s better than the alternative.

With the holidays fast approaching a lot of people will be traveling, and with this increase in activity there is also the potential for an increase in crime. Following are some tips to keep in mind to keep your travels safe.

If you are a woman traveling alone, book all reservations with your first initial and last name only since a feminine first name can often send unwanted signals.

Wear the shoulder strap of your bag across your chest and walk with the bag away from the curb to avoid drive-by purse-snatchers.

If you are alone, do not get on an elevator if there is a suspicious-looking person inside.

Should you need to ask directions, try not to ask anyone on the street. Instead, walk into a business and ask an employee.

Leave your expensive jewelry at home. Period.

If traveling by car and sleeping in a hotel, remove all your luggage every night as well as anything else that might attract the attention of passers-by.

Try to seem purposeful when you move about. Even if you are lost, act as if you know where you are going. Try to ask for directions only from individuals in authority.

Do not flash large amounts of money when paying a bill. Make sure your credit card is returned to you after each transaction.

If you are confronted, don’t fight back — give up your valuables.

If you are staying in a hotel/motel, make sure that doors are self-closing and self-locking before checking in. Also, whenever possible, ask to stay on a floor higher than ground level to avoid window access by thieves.

Always make sure that someone who is not traveling with you knows where you are and where you plan to be until you can get back in touch with them to let them know you have returned safely.
